Although orthodox in style, it has a radical point of view - this is the theatre we have always pursued. Different from movies or television programs, theatrical productions should lead the audience to 'look at the stage with a positive attitude'. We cannot call it theatre if it is understood, even though the audience is not so concentrated on it. At concerts, we dance and beat time with our hands. I believe that some theatrical productions could, and should, draw the audience to participate in productions. In my opinion, 'participatory theatre' is theatre which inspires the audience to imagine and seize the real meaning of what is going on. Furthermore, in what way and how much can I engage the audience's imagination? We have to find an answer to this question in order to express something exclusively through theatre. We want to use any available method of engaging the imagination of our audience. In short, we want the audience to imagine the scene, the relationships between each character, the background, and even some specific scenes or lines. Apart from the plot, we would like to attach importance to scenery, costumes and props. To realize this, what kind of text and direction are necessary, and which style of acting is required? We wish to produce a theatre which inspires imagination of the audience with various methods, and leads them to see the stage in positive attitude so that they can complete the theatrical production as though they are putting pieces of jigsaw puzzle together. We are challenging consistently towards our aim. We are keen to feature contemporary social problems, trend and phenomena, and question these in theatrical productions. We always want to see 'something we can do only right now' and describe it in our work, for theatre is culture and life which we cannot duplicate. |
